A great article for my consignors!

A great article in the Post this week.  I especially like the comment by one of the designers they asked to help them with the article. “ ‘Dated’ means that at one time it looked good,” said Amy Zantzinger, an interior designer based in Chevy Chase. “Bad taste never looked good.”

This is exactly what is so hard to explain when deciding what consignments we will take and those we pass.  My goal at REfind is to select items that still make sense for today.  There are still some great "old" things that have value in peolples homes. We see it as our job to discern which pieces might be reused in a new way or still have the "it" that people want.

We never mean to offend and the article says exactly what we feel; dated doesn't mean you have bad taste or that your things are bad.  We are just trying to bring the best merchandise to the customers.

A Gothic Beauty!

Look at this awesome beauty!  She is 78" tall and 33" wide.  Yeah, I know not awesome measurements for a woman, but every bit of her is the real thing!  Dating to the 1890's she is old, but in no way dated.  Her heritage is just as special in that she is almost from the neighborhood, a church that still stands over on Gallows Road.  And, if you are lucky enough to get her than your are truly lucky as there will never  be another just like her! Imagine how gorgeous she would be with a sunlight streaming in from behind.

In the Garden

If you have been busy planting you know how much you would love a garden bench.  This piece just came in and could be used in the garden to pot, on your porch as a bar, or even in your kitchen as an island.  It is "previously owned" so you know what that means...you are getting a bargin!  It is tempting to load it up with plants to make it look cute but I know it won't be here long.

Dinner Tonight?

We've got it all together for your next dinner party...table, chairs, candles, dishes and glasses!  And who knows we may get in a set of silverware by the end of the day.

The table is a sweet little find.  It folds in half to a demilune console table that is 51" long.  Could be a great little laptop desk that can be pulled out for your next dinner party.  The chairs are new in the modern bistro style, comfortable and sturdy yet light and easy to move.  The china is a vintage pattern called Silver Wheat. It is simple yet elegant.  The glassware is a huge set of smoky grey that have a great feel in your hand.

Oh, and the dogs!  They are a staffordshire repro and just plain fun!  Much more economical than the real thing, and who will know?
