A little pop of color...

...makes it all go together!  Arranging with consigned objects is a great lesson in how color can unify objects.  For this grouping I collected all of the silver colored things.  Then I decided that the lids of the green candle jars were silver so they fit too.  Still a bit boring so I injected a pop of orange with my mini Martha Stewart tissue balls and viola!

And it was even better when the thirsty boy towels arrived with  their words printed in green and orange.  They have been flying out of the shop.  I really like the "free range children" one as a teacher gift!

Anybody Beaching it this Weekend?

Today a consignor brought in some items from her beach cottage that she sold last year.  As I checked in her items I was transported (in my mind), to my beach chair facing the Atlantic; umbrella, book and the wonderful smell of salt, sand and suntan lotion.  Thank goodness I sell Aunt Sadie's "Beach" candles so I could really pretend!  Check out a few of the items she brought in...what's not to love about a paper mache crab or a lobster pillow?

Yummy Green Glass

It doesn't matter if is clear or cloudy, I always love green glass.  Our cute little Hoosier is filling up with milky green glass bowls.  For some reason it makes me want to eat some ice cream!  Luckily I don't have a freezer here at REfind.

Speaking of ice cream....is there anyone who needs a fabulous cocktail table for their lake, bay or beach house?  This table has just been updated with a compass rose to go with it's boating inspired wheel legs.  It is an unusual height (taller than your typical coffee table) so it would be perfect for games while sitting on large floor pillows or for eating your bowl of ice cream in your comfy side chair.

1936 Map and a Huntley Dresser

Who would think the marriage of these two items could turn out so well?  Check out this heirloom quality transformation.

This piece could be at home in a bedroom of course, but it would be just perfect in a living room, den or foyer.  It is one of those pieces that is so unique it really would be gorgeous anywhere in your home.  Who will be the lucky customer to get their hands on this one?

Now that's what I'm talk'n about!

I asked Edie Tragesar of Originally Yours to help me out with the maple buffet that has been hanging around REfind just a bit to long.  I mentioned a Pottery Barn media cabinet that I had seen in a recent catalog.  And wow, did Edie ever deliver!

Check out this wonderful "recycle" of a solid maple, sturdy, not dead yet (but not too cute as she was) cabinet.  I can just picture a nice flat screen up on top and the necessary equipment (DVR, Blueray, etc) in the middle space left open for your universal remote.  You even have two more closed hiding places and three drawers left to fill with stuff that no one needs to see.

And, if media is not your thing she would still perform as a sweet roomy buffet.  Just tuck two square baskets in the open space for all of your table linens.  You still have the closed storage and drawers to fill with your china and silver.

Now see if you can find the inspiration piece in your Pottery Barn catalog!
