It's REALLY beginning to look like Christmas!
I know we aren't to Thanksgiving yet, but in order for you to see the items you may want to use in your home for the Holidays I have to start early! When I mixed up the awesome fake snow on a beautiful 60 degree day this week I started to question myself about the timing. What I do know is: anything holiday is flying out the door, even if it still feels like the end of summer. So how are you planning to decorate this holiday season?

Time Flies when you are having fun!
Wow, where did the week go and where did all these customers come from? It has been busy, busy at REfind. The holiday home decorating season is definitely upon us. I have been selling things as fast as I can get them into the shop. And boy have we had some neat stuff come in! Check out the vintage glass cabinet and document file. They are beautiful relics from the past. A full size Eastlake style bed was consigned this week as well. It is in awesome shape with a gorgeous foot board and wood side rails. Now, off to a family wedding for the evening. Yeah for Jaime and Alex!

What to do with the paper trash.....
Wrap your Christmas gifts, of course! I had yards and yards of this crinkled brown paper arrive in boxes with my Capri Blue candles. As I was shoving it back in the boxes to take to the recycle bin it occured to me it would make awesome gift wrap. So I wrapped these boxes up and then used the reuseable zinc tags I have hung on the Christmas tree as gift tags. A REfind idea all the way around, don't you think?

What do you love?
Many customers remark that it must be really hard to pass up on some of the things that come into REfind for consignment. Or they say, you must have a really neat house with access to all of this stuff! Actually, my home is just like yours probably is....a work in progress. I am never done and I always am looking for new ways to keep my home fresh and interesting.
The best way to find what you want for your home is to only buy what you love. If you love it then "it" will work somewhere in your home. I realize after I had the basics this is what I have tended to do. Certainly over the years my color choices have changed, but the basic style of things I love, that make my home "my home" have not.
So, what do I love? I love brown transferware, I love cottage gardens, I love old shoes and shoe forms, I love chippy old wood, I love fresh towels and linens, and I love holiday decorations. And yes, like you I have lots of stuff! Here is a peek at what I have done with some of my stuff to make my home "my home".

Ivy, Cypress, Rosemary and Myrtle.....Oh My!
The shop is very green! I opened the boxes on our lovely rainy day. Come see my latest friends Ivy, Rosemary and Myrtle, just in time for holiday decorating!
They are all priced very modestly from $4 to $20. Inexpensive enough to use as you would cut flowers! and hopefully with more longevity!

"It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!"
I put the tree up yesterday and had a good time decorating it with what I had. This year I decided at the store I would do something very simple but still elegant. I have used very few ornaments, just some zinc tags tied on with jute. The majority of the color and texture comes from floral picks, a garland of cotton, and a garland of burlap. It was so easy to get the desired effect with out going to a huge expense or effort.
That is how I hope the holidays will be this year. Simple, elegant and effortless. Who knows that you didn't get "all" of your ornaments out this year? Who cares if the colors don't quite match up exactly? I was beginning to stress about "getting it all done" in the store. And then I just jumped in and found that it all came together easily if I just relaxed and enjoyed the process without getting so hung up on it all being perfect.
I would love to hear what you think of my sweet little tree. Can't wait to finish the rest of what I have in mind for the store. But, for now I want to finish enjoying the real start of this beautiful Fall weather!
